Sioux City, Iowa (Dec. 10, 2019) – The Boys & Girls Clubs of Siouxland (BGCS) is pleased to announce that through a $4,500 donation by Seaboard Triumph Foods (STF) and a $1,500 donation by FiberComm, seven new computers will be purchased for the BGCS Learning Center. These computers will replace the existing 14-year-old computers in the learning center.

“We are thrilled to be able to contribute to the Boys & Girls Club of Siouxland’s Learning Center in partnership with FiberComm, also a state-of-the-art Siouxland-based company,” says Frank Papenberg, Chief Operating Officer of Triumph Foods. “The donation is a natural alignment for us and provides young people in Siouxland the opportunity to build technological skills needed for today’s careers.”

BGCS members utilize the Learning Center computers for educational programming, Photography Club, Junior Scientists, Engineering and Movie Makers. Club members also use computers for homework assigned by their school. This donation provides Siouxland youth with the opportunity to access technology resources and enables BGCS to provide more technological programming.

A check presentation took place at 10:00am on Tuesday, December 10th at the Boys and Girls Club of Siouxland. Company representatives, BGCS Board Members and BGCS staff were present.

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Siouxland serves roughly 1,000 youth each year between the ages of 7-18 by providing a safe place to come after school and during the summer months. Membership includes one free meal and one free snack a day in addition to local and national research-based programs. Approximately 94% of the BGCS youth come from low-income households, and over 70% come from single-parent or non-traditional households.
